Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information katsuYo! (the "Service") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information — name, email, and (if you use password sign-in) a hashed password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your basic profile and email from Google.
- Learning activity — courses, lessons, sentences, bookmarks, quiz progress, and other content you create or interact with on the Service.
- Feedback — messages you submit through the feedback form, including any contact details you choose to provide.
- Technical data — basic request metadata (IP address, browser, page path) used for security and to keep the Service running reliably.
2. How We Use Information
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
- To personalize your learning experience.
- To respond to feedback, support requests, and account issues.
- To send essential transactional emails (verification, password reset, account notices).
- To detect, prevent, and address abuse, fraud, or security issues.
3. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers that help us run the Service (for example, hosting, database, email delivery, and language-processing services), and only as needed for them to perform their functions. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of katsuYo!, our users, or others.
4. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account, after which we will delete or anonymize your personal information except where we are required to retain it (for example, for legal or accounting reasons).
5. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Cookies and Local Storage
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand how the Service is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect parts of the Service.
7. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us through the feedback form or your account settings.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by other reasonable means.
